Before you transfer anything
Transfers are one-way Find and confirm the award seat you want first, inside the destination program. Only then move your points. Points that arrive in a program you cannot use are effectively stranded.
How this is worked out
points × destination units ÷ source units × (1 + bonus) = miles received
Most transfers are 1:1, which makes the math invisible. The ones that are not are where people get caught out. Amex to JetBlue, for instance, currently moves at 250: 200 - so 25,000 Amex points become 20,000 TrueBlue points, not 25,000. Verified 2026-09-01.
Partial miles are not credited, so results are rounded down. Where a route has a minimum or moves in fixed increments, the calculator says so and offers the nearest valid amounts - without changing what you typed.
Why every ratio here carries a date
A transfer ratio is a dated fact, not permanent truth. Programs add partners, drop partners and change ratios, sometimes with no notice at all. Every row in our data records when a person last confirmed it against the official source, and that date is shown with the result. If it is old, we say so rather than quietly presenting stale data as current.
Eligibility can also vary by card and by account. A ratio that applies to one product in a family does not always apply to the others.
Questions people ask
Can I transfer points back if I change my mind?
Almost never. Transfers out of a bank program are one-way and final. Once your Amex or Chase points become airline miles, they are that airline's miles, subject to that airline's rules and that airline's devaluations. This is the single most expensive mistake beginners make, and it is why every result on this page carries the same warning.
Should I transfer points and then look for a seat?
No. Do it the other way round. Find the award seat first, confirm it is bookable and priced as you expect, and only then transfer. Award space disappears, and if it does you are left holding miles in a program you may not otherwise use.
Why does my transfer show a minimum or an increment?
Most programs will not move an arbitrary number of points. Some set a floor - 1,000 points, say - and most move in fixed steps. If the amount you entered does not fit, this calculator tells you the nearest valid amounts, but it does not silently change what you typed.
Where do transfer bonuses come from?
You enter them. Issuers run promotional bonuses - 20%, 30%, occasionally more - but they come and go quickly, and we do not maintain a live feed of them at launch. If you have a bonus offer in front of you, put its percentage in and the calculator will apply it.
How long does a transfer take?
It varies enormously by pair, from instant to several days. Where a program publishes a figure we show it, but treat any timing as indicative. Never transfer against a deadline assuming it will be instant.
