Citi ThankYou Points: what they are worth and where they transfer
ThankYou Points are Citi's transferable currency. We hold a reference valuation for them but have not yet verified any transfer routes, so this guide covers what we can stand behind and is explicit about what we cannot.

What we can tell you
ThankYou Points work like the other transferable currencies on this site: they are issued by a bank, they are not airline miles, and their value comes from what they can be turned into rather than from any fixed rate.
The reference value at the top of this page comes from AwardWallet and reflects what these points have tended to be worth across a large sample of real award bookings. You can use it to size up a balance, and you can use the redemption value calculator to check any specific booking - that calculation needs no partner data at all, just the cash fare, the points price and the fees.
What we have not verified
We do not currently hold a single confirmed transfer route for ThankYou Points. That is a gap in our data, not a statement that no partners exist - Citi is a major issuer and we would expect it to have them.
We could fill this page with a partner list assembled from memory or from other websites. We will not, because a transfer ratio is the kind of fact people act on irreversibly, and being confidently wrong about one is worse than being visibly incomplete. When we verify these routes against Citi's own page, they will appear in the table above with the date they were checked.

What you can still do here
Estimating a balance works normally - the calculator on this page uses the reference valuation and needs no partner data.
Checking whether a specific award is a good deal also works normally. Cents per point is arithmetic on the cash fare, the points price and the fees; it does not care which program the points came from. That is the calculation that most often changes people's minds, and it is available regardless of what we know about partners.
A worked example
Suppose you are looking at a $610 fare that a program will also sell for 32,000 miles plus $22 in fees. The arithmetic is the same whichever currency funded those miles.
($610.00 cash − $22.00 award fees) ÷ 32,000 points × 100 = 1.84 cents per point
A solid but unspectacular result - the kind of redemption that is worth doing if you wanted the trip and had the points, and not worth contorting your plans to achieve.
Against the current reference value of 2.33 cents, that is about 79% of typical - what we label below typical value. Those bands are our own editorial rules, not an industry standard.

Do these points expire?
Whether Citi ThankYou points expire depends on the card account that earned them. On Custom Cash and Double Cash card accounts, points You earn using your Card Account will not expire. On Citi ThankYou Mastercard accounts, your Points will expire three (3) years from December 31 of the year You earned them. Points received through Point Sharing expire ninety (90) days after the date they were shared, and Citi states that effective May 17, 2026, Point Sharing will no longer be offered as a ThankYou Rewards redemption option.

Transfers are one-way Find and confirm the award seat first, inside the destination program. Only then move your points. Once they leave Citi ThankYou Points they are the destination program's currency, subject to its rules and its future devaluations.
Check the minimum and the increment before you commit to an amount - the number you wanted may not be a valid transfer. And remember that transfers are not always instant, so never transfer against a deadline assuming they will be. The transfer calculator flags all three.
Good and poor uses
Broad principles, not promises about specific inventory. What is actually available on your dates is something only the booking program can tell you.
Generally works well
- Sizing up a balance against the reference valuation before making plans.
- Checking a specific award against its cash fare, which needs no partner data.
- Waiting until you have confirmed current transfer terms on Citi's own page.
Usually poor value
- Planning a transfer based on a partner list from an unofficial source.
- Assuming a ratio is 1:1 because most transfers are.
- Any transfer made before the award seat is confirmed.
Questions people ask
Why does this page have no transfer partners listed?
Because we have not verified any yet. Our transfer table is built only from routes a person has confirmed against the official source. An empty table means we have not done that work for this program, not that no partners exist.
Can I still work out whether a redemption is good?
Yes. Cents per point only needs the cash fare, the points required and the award fees. Use the redemption value calculator - it works identically for every program.
Where should I check the current partner list?
The official Citi page linked in the sources section below. Read the terms there rather than relying on any third-party summary, including ours, for a decision you cannot reverse.
When will this page have transfer data?
When we have verified it. Our data audit runs monthly and covers each issuer's official transfer page; anything confirmed gets added with the date it was checked.
